Feedback, or what our guests say about Real Gambia Holidays

"WOW! what a fantastic holiday. I'm glad we didn't stay in a hotel, staying in Brufut village meant we felt like we were seeing the 'Real Gambia'. We can highly recommend a holiday at here.
From the greeting at the airport to the rides in the safari jeep, the drumming sessions where the village children turned up to clap and dance and the african food cooked by the boys we couldn't have asked for a better time. Try the local bread and doughnuts (they call them pancakes) from the village market.
We also managed to visit a whole host of places, but the best has to be the visit to the school which brought a tear to your eye and a smile to their faces.
The Gambian beaches which are not far from the compound are well worth a visit, for just relaxing and enjoying the sun or taking a stroll and seeing the fishing boats. The boys, Jammeh, Fax and Jeff have a font or information about everything in Gambia and if you enjoy Reggae ask them to take you to one of the evening beach parties.
Everyone looking after you in the compound, Jammeh, Fax, Jeff, Fafa, Ramau and her delightful daughter Adama and Side are a real credit to the place and helped the holiday go so well. We are already trying to book flights to go back again. "

"Fran and I both had a brilliant holiday. This was our second time to Gambia and staying in the compound was much better than an hotel.
Both Fafa and Fax couldn't do enough to ensure that we enjoyed our holiday. Throughout the time they were helpful, attentive and hopefully enjoyed our company as much as we enjoyed theirs. It was a sad goodbye on departure day.
They took us to some very Gambian places including Sunsplash nightclub which was full of 'boys' and reggea music, but fabulous night out. The boys were as happy to relax with us as to run about with us and cook for us and we ate some superb Gambian food met some lovely Gambian people, indeed both Fran and I are now officially Gambian cousins.
We look forward to returning next year, hopefully for a longer stay. "

"Last visit to the The Gambia we stayed in a top hotel. It was terrible, Bumsters at the door, poor food and awful entertainment. This time we wanted to find the real Gambia.
We enjoyed our holiday at the Brufut village apartments very much. The apartment staff Fax and Fafa were always very helpful and good at anticipating our needs. We did experience with their help the real Gambia! Fax is a good, safe driver and knows his way around the country. Thanks a lot again. Not to forget the fantastic drumming sessions!
The apartments are clean and the kitchen well equipped. We enjoyed very much the cooking with Fax, and learned African recipes. The apartments are not near the tourist area, which is great. If you do not rent a car, you can experience the bushtaxi-system, which is reasonable and cheap or pay relatively expensive private taxis.
There is a wonderful swimming pool which was undergoing renovation while we were staying at the apartments (Oct07). "

"One week of lovely hot weather away from the UK winter, & some very special 'African' moments; sitting under a full moon on the beach around a campfire dancing to African drumming - the only whites there; walking from the apartments through the village(s) around, seeing the village well being used, looking around the little markets, interacting with the local people, especially the children.Walking in the 'bush'. Fax, Jammeh, Alahgie & Soloman were SO helpful & fitted in SO well, with their nice personalities & humour - they were a big part of making our holiday as successful as it was. They cooked us the BEST Gambia meals. And Fax is a very safe driver! We love the new vehicle so we could all travel together - it's the perfect size!!
Thank you Kate, Bob, & 'the boys'!"

"Absolutely Fabulous. One of the best "Girlie" holidays to date. Keeping six very different people happy and relaxed is quite an achievement. The boys couldn't do enough for us and it was great to find you have recently got transport. This meant that we could all go out together and include your other guests or be taken to different places to meet up later. Worked so well.
Apartments great, so nice on chill out days to relax by the pool. Meeting the real gambia was quite a culture shock but the smiles melted your heart. Loved playing with all the children at the school and well just everywhere you went. Always seemed to be a child or two hanging on to our hands. Will be in contact soon regarding school. Only one negative incident on the last night. We all went to party at Baileys - buffet - african dancing and disco. Buffet was not good - music great - atmosphere beautiful and then the woman from hell behind the counter. Wanted 360D only had 400D pleaded no change when I took back 50D and said I would come back with the 10 turned very nasty. Needless to say she only got the 10. This ploy was tried on another of our party. Again with the same result. So maybe a place to avoid for future guests. Think Gambia will stay in our hearts for a long time, send our love to the boys and thank them all for such a wonderful time."

"We have been to Gambia on several occasions, and this was by far the most enjoyable time we had..
The apts are fantastic, and its a great location to explore the real Gambia, but yet relax at the same time ...
Our holiday would not have been the same without the boys, they were fantastic and such a great laugh. We look forward to going back in a couple of months ..
Thank you for a fantastic holiday"

"We had a really good holiday for which we thank you and
everyone there.
Highlights of the holiday: visits to the crocodile pool and the park areas of Gambia; Helping to christen your swimming pool; The naming ceremony we were invited to by the taxi driver you use from the apartment; Paradise beach; definitely resort to exploit but definitely not to stop at; Getting involved with Radio Gambia at a football match: relaxation at the apartments; A night at a local club The trouble is this list is it could just go on and on.
Low points - Bumsters; have to be tolerated for the high points.
The apartments for us were fine and the people around great. I cannot
praise Fax and all the others highly enough.
The location is good as well.
I particularly enjoyed the daily juices."

"Well what can I say - I have just had the best 2 weeks of my life. The house was great the guys there were amazing especially Fax. We waited 2 weeks for the pool to be filled (not a problem as we did not know that there was one there so it was a great surprise). On the last morning when we were all depressed waiting to come home, Fax informed us that they had filled the pool, cases open, cosies on and we were in. It was great made our last morning memorable "

"Once again thanks for everything"
