THE HOLIDAYS
The holiday gives you the chance to experience a different culture, amongst local people who really enjoy introducing visitors to their way of life.
A guide is allocated to each apartment. It is their job to make sure you have everything you need ranging from fresh bread for breakfast, trips and tours to local places of interest, money changed, company or peace and quiet.
The guides are all either friends or family of Bob's and have grown up together. They live on site and are available 24hours a day.
We have tried to allow you to be as independent or 'looked after' as you choose. Services we offer include having local meals cooked for you in your apartment, use of the compound Bar-be-cue, watch 'the boys' cook local dishes and then eat with them, or book a Taxi to be taken to the nearby resort of Kololi (10 minutes away) and a variety of bars and restaurants.
THE APARTMENTS
We have aimed to create comfortable self catering holidays combined with an opportunity to spend time living in a Gambian fishing village.
We have five apartments set in their own compound, four of which sleep two people and a family house that sleeps 6. Each apartment has been fitted to a high standard and has its own small private garden for those who prefer to relax in privacy. We have a maid who will clean your apartment daily, and offers a laundry service if required.

The apartments are solar powered which does mean there is no hot running water, but the water tanks are stored on the roof so it is warmer in the evenings.
On arrival you will be shown around your apartment and be introduced to the staff we have on site. You will then have time to unpack, and change if you want to before you are taken to the local supermarket to buy any provisions you may need for your stay.
Services
Your apartment will be cleaned everyday, with any laundry you have washed twice a week. Please bring your own towels, we will be happy to wash these with the rest of your laundry.
Included in the price of you holiday are transfers to and from the airport, and also we will take you to the supermarket in Kololi, on your first day. Short trips are available, half or full day trips. A price list is available in each apartment and your guide knows all the tours available.
Money
Travelers cheques are accepted but the bank exchange rate is lower than you will get in the local town of Serekunda. The choice is yours but I usually take cash and ask my guide to take me to change it in the local town.
Food
The amount of self catering you do is entirely your choice. Each apartment is equipped with a Gas stove and basic cooking utensils. Other alternatives are to either eat out, (your guide will be able to recommend good places to eat and drink), using the onsite Bar-be-cue, arranging with your guide for a meal to be cooked in your apartment , or sitting with the staff and enjoying watching them cook their local meal, and then eat with them or take it back to your apartment.
If you would like fresh local bread in the morning (Tapalapa) please ask.
There are local shops within walking distance which sell a whole range of things from candles to bottled water, so if you do run out of anything don't hesitate to as your guide and they will get it for you.
